Of all of the conservation organizations that I support, I am most confident that our donation to ICFC goes directly to finding a solution to specific problems.
We support bold, high-impact conservation in places others may overlook. 100% of donations go to programs (our core donors cover admin costs long term). We are agile, risk-tolerant, and long-term partners who work in close partnership with local and Indigenous organizations who know best what conservation actions are needed and have a good plan to carry them out.
Biome offers donors a chance to make a lasting impact on the world’s most important life zones, with full confidence that their support goes directly to where it’s needed most.
We monitor our impact and long-term success. evaluating biodiversity gains along with co-benefits for climate and people.
Hectares of land covered by Biome projects and additional marine areas in 37 countries
People benefit from project related jobs, improved livelihoods and education
Tonnes of CO2 equivalent stored in our project areas (more than annual emissions of 1 billion cars)
Threatened and Near Threatened species are in our project areas (just the ones we know of)
Tropical nature has astonishing biodiversity—the Amazon alone is home to 7,000 tree species and a single rainforest reserve in Peru has more bird species than the entire United States.
Tropical forests are crucial for addressing climate change, and they generate rainfall and supply water for agriculture and other human needs. Coastal ecosystems prevent storm damage and are vital to fisheries. Canada’s migratory species depend on tropical wintering areas. Yet tropical ecosystems are being lost and degraded—95% of deforestation is happening in the tropics.
With our dedicated field partners, we:
We do the due diligence, build the relationships, and follow the science—so you can give with confidence, knowing your support reaches the right places. We invite you to be part of it.
“How much value should humanity place on the tropics, their exceptional biodiversity, and their ecosystem services, from which we all benefit? Ultimately the tropics and all of their varied ecosystems and biota will become what we humans make of them. The fate of the world’s biomes is ours to decide.”

update
After 17 years as the International Conservation Fund of Canada (ICFC), we are entering an exciting new chapter with a new name and look: welcome to Biome Conservation. While our new name and brand represent...
All Canadians, and I am one of them, have a stake in the health and diversity of our planet. ICFC is unique among Canadian [conservation organizations] in strategically targeting the most biodiverse landscapes around the world. ICFC uses measurable, time- tested methods that result in direct conservation of millions of hectares of the most critically important habitat. I can say unreservedly that if you want your conservation dollars to go efficiently and directly to where you can have a tremendously important conservation impact ICFC is the Canadian organization to support.

Rainforest preservation appears to be, by far, the most cost effective means to address climate change. And climate change presents a humanitarian imperative. Unimaginable human displacement and consequent disease are anticipated unless we act. ICFC is scientific, agile and efficient. It is the Canadian charity most directly impacting tropical forest preservation! I feel that donations here will make the biggest global impact. ICFC is the primary charity supported by our medical corporation.
