When including Biome in your estate plans, you can use simple language, as shown in the examples below. Always confirm the final wording with your legal advisor to ensure it meets your personal and local requirements.
Bequest in a Will
- “I give to the International Conservation Fund of Canada (operating as Biome), a registered Canadian charity (Charitable Number: 85247 8189 RR0001), [insert specific amount, percentage of my estate, or residual of my estate], to be used for its charitable purposes.”
RRSP / RRIF Beneficiary Designation
- “I designate the International Conservation Fund of Canada (operating as Biome), a registered Canadian charity (Charitable Number: 85247 8189 RR0001), as the beneficiary of my [RRSP/RRIF] account.”
Life Insurance Policy
- Option A: Naming Biome as a beneficiary
“I name the International Conservation Fund of Canada (operating as Biome), Charitable Number 85247 8189 RR0001, as a beneficiary of [percentage or amount] of the proceeds of my life insurance policy, [Policy Number], issued by [Insurance Company].” - Option B: Transferring ownership of a policy
“I transfer ownership of my life insurance policy, [Policy Number], to the International Conservation Fund of Canada (operating as Biome), Charitable Number 85247 8189 RR0001, to be used for its charitable purposes.”
Optional Language for Specific Programs
“I wish, if possible, that my gift support [specific Biome Conservation program or geographic area]. If circumstances change, I direct that the organization may apply my gift where it is most needed to advance its mission of protecting biodiversity and ecosystems.”
